Our Patroness
Saint Monica was no stranger to persevering in prayer and navigating difficult family relationships. Despite a challenging marriage to a pagan husband with a volatile temper, and raising a rebellious and worldly son, she prayed tirelessly for the conversion of both. God generously answered her steadfast prayers.
Her husband converted, and her son later became Saint Augustine, a Doctor of the Church. We celebrate Saint Monica’s patience, unwavering faith, and devotion on her feast day, August 27. She is the patron saint of mothers, wives, alcoholics, difficult marriages, and conversion.
Church History
Our Roots Run Deep
Founded in 1897, Saint Monica Parish has been a beacon of hope and faith in our community. The parish community dates back to 1879 when the Augustinians traveled from Villanova to celebrate Mass in the borough hall.
While much has changed over the years, including the loss of the original church to a fire in 1991, Saint Monica Parish has remained a place where generations find rest and peace in Christ.
