Originally from Montgomery County, PA, Alexandra LaMastra has been playing piano from the age of seven and has been involved in music ministry since the age of twelve. Alexandra graduated summa cum laude from The Catholic University of America’s Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a minor in Theology and Religious Studies. As an undergraduate student, she made her European orchestral debut playing with the Orquestra de Camara de Cascais e Oreiras in Estoril, Portugal as well as her Kennedy Center debut while under the tutelage of Dr. Ivo Kaltchev. She also enjoyed playing the Harpsichord and joining the CUA University Singers Choir for the annually broadcasted EWTN Christmas Concert. Following her undergraduate degree, Alexandra earned her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from SUNY Stony Brook while studying with professor Christina Dahl. Her final dissertation research and performance project focused on the interdisciplinary relationship between musical techniques, visual art, and religious traditions in the music of George Crumb.
Over the past three years, Alexandra has enjoyed serving as the Director of Religious Education at Mother of Divine Providence in King of Prussia as well as coordinating the music for events hosted by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Ministry with Youth. She is excited to join The Church of Saint Monica in the role of Director of Music where she will strive to serve the parish community by assisting with liturgies and planning music that leads us into deeper communion with our Lord. She looks forward to getting to know you over the next few weeks!
